Q8 rear ended...

New to the forum and Q8 ownership. 1 week in and somebody rear-ended me while I was sitting at a red light. The collision was at low speed and there is no visible damage to either car (car was a sedan). Is there anything unseen that I should be concerned could have gone wrong? The only thing I could think of was sensors, which seem to be working fine.

Appreciate any advice anyone could offer.

Get it checked for unseen damage. Previous car of mine (Infiniti M56x) was rear ended with no visible damage. Found out at trade-in time that there was damage under the bumper cover.

I'm back on this website considering a Q8 after my '17 Q7 was totaled in a rear-end collision while I was stopped at a red light. In my case, I was hit very hard and there was visible damage. The tow package took most of the force but that energy had to go somewhere. Perhaps a testament to Audi is that if I felt anything wrong with the car in 40 or so miles I traveled after, it would be that I had an inkling that the car was meandering slightly more than normal but so little I questioned if it wasn't the road. Turns out the impact was so great it pushed the tailpipes into the car by 7". The car was totaled after inspection. Again, I couldn't really tell from driving it that there was any damage. So, my advice is to have it checked out, especially if you have the other party's insurance info, I'm guessing they'd foot the bill even if there is no damage. As Chiclet11 mentioned, you don't want to be surprised latent damage down the road (pun intended).

Frame damage is what you need to look for. Even minor bumps can bend the frame.

Many thanks for the replies. I have the other party’s insurance and have scheduled the work. It was a college kid who was exceptionally nervous, so part of me wanted to cut him a break. Not worth the chance...fingers crossed that it is all very innocuous.

Glad to hear it. My Q7 was totaled by a college student who was also nervous. So much so she couldn't speak. I suspect she was looking at her phone. I was pissed but told her that none of this will matter in 5 years. Little did I expect the car was totaled. Lemons to lemonade puts me in a Q8 and also may have saved her or others lives. I was the only one sitting at the light so I'm pretty certain she wasn't paying attention but had she missed me, she would have been out in the intersection and things would have been likely been worse.
