Thanks. We shouldn't clog up this thread with the seat discussion. But for them to not be intentional the set of circumstances that would have to come together would be so extraordinary that the odds of it happening would be near impossibility. The fact that every production X5 with leather seats has the wrinkles and every one with Sensatec does not even though they are made by the same manufacture surely points to them being put in there on purpose. They can't accidentally or through incompetence get it wrong every time with one material and correct every time with another.
Prior to this I had a 2010/11 X5. My only regret was not getting the 5.0.
I moved to Audi at the time because I felt BMW just didn't change much in those 6 years. It is a different story now, of course.

My Q8 arrives next week. Currently I have a '17 Q7 purchased in 2016.

The political similarities continue on the BMW Forum, with Mark609/Johnny Bench

By the way, someone should tell him that “klan” only refers to one organization
pathetic

Exactly what the "Ignore" list is for.
Who has the time to hang around other manufacturer boards bashing that brand to make themselves feel superior? I'm not trashing BMW, but he's driving an X5. There's a million of them on the road around here, it's not exactly an exclusive ride.

Never Follows
I’ve heard the BMW stereotype for years but never realised how close it was to the truth. I joined a BMW forum a few months ago because I was interested in the X5 and was surprised at how many egotistical fanboys were on the site. I’d still buy one if it was really something I wanted but wouldn’t be visiting the forum like I have for other brands I’ve owned.

While you refuse to practice what you preach.
The OP wanted pointers to aid him in choosing between the more expensive Q8 or the new X5. I've driven both and stated what the deal killer was for me regarding Audi and why I carefully chose BMW. I loved our Lexus but can't take the new look. Most butt ugly car on the road plus as folks have pointed out, BMW is in a whole different league. It's a masterpiece.
There's another important consideration which hasn't been brought up - service. Who provides you with the best support? We have what's called Genius staff, both local and corporate available all the time. The new HUGE (think 300,000 s.f.) BMW San Antonio dealership service and care has been impeccable as was my deal which was below invoice (7% off MSRP) on a new custom build topped off with 1,000's more in discounts and rebates. Still waiting on the $1,000 BMW CCA discount on top of that. These folks are aggressive when it comes to pricing their cars. Speaking of huge and service, how's 115 service bays, half filled with techs up to this point!
OK, you say you're not trashing BMW but claiming "it's not an exclusive ride"? That is rich.
The ride (and bang for the buck) is the best I've owned. Consumer Reports brand new April 2019 car issue agrees.
Whatever, enjoy your ride and rots of ruck.
