Yep, what i've been saying all along....and too expensive for most buyers to get them to look their best (YR1) + Q7 is a better value.
I've also been looking at the new GLE450 or 53 as a replacement and a 450 very nicely equipped is $95k+..
These kinds of prices are getting silly for this class of S/CUV's

The MBUSA website still shows the old model, I think.

I agree prices are getting ridiculous, but based on this I don't see the Q8 or GLE being a flop, if they are so similar in prices and features. They might all sell in lower numbers or with people settling for the 4 cylinder GLE 350 ?
Frankly, I'm not surprised by the similarity at all. Look at the performance numbers (0-60):
X6 - 5.6s
Q8 - 5.6s
GLE 450 - 5.5 s
It only makes sense that pricing would be similar as well. It's all a matter of apples and oranges, with the X5/Q7 being a bit better value for money.

We have a P+ Q8 (single pane glass)
We also have a 2018 Prestige S4 (dual pane glass)
I was loaned (for over 10 days) a 2018 A8L.
I have been in numerous cars including a Tesla.
The Q8 (ours, without dual pane glass) is the quietest car (other than the Tesla) I have ever been in, period.
I can assume and imagine that a Prestige Q8 could be quieter, but the P+ allows conversations at speed, it must have pounds and pounds and pounds of sound deadening materials.
Our dealer seems to move $80K versions fairly quickly. The bummer about the base Q8 is the sound system -- it is, uh, "weak" (or lame). At this price point, a crappy stereo is just not expected. Perhaps this is why the base Q8s are not flying off dealer's lots.
P+
Orca Black
Yr-1
CD/DVD player
Cold Weather Package
Driver Assistance Package
Towing package
Black Leather
$79,340
As close as I could configure, a 2019 Cayenne is about $12K more and has a 0-60 performance of 5.9 seconds versus the Q8's 5.6 seconds. The Q8 if another $12K worth of options were added would be just that much better.
The Q8 is the Cayenne Porsche wishes it had.

The Q8 and 6 cylinder Cayenne are really apples and oranges...the Cayenne 6 is better comp'd to the Q7 SC 3.0 but that will change for the 2020MY with the new turbo motor for the Q7

Pretty clear. Within the VW heigharcy it’s VW>Audi>Porsche>Bentley with price points to correspond. A Porsche Cayenne with equivalent equipment to a Q7 comes out to 130K. Add another 100K for the Bentley.
