How many billions did they dump into diesel R&D that they had hoped to recoup in the US? Not any more...
They gotta put those diesels somewhere...US is going electric anyway....

I would buy the diesel V-8 Q8 in a heartbeat and especially over one of the idiotic electric vehicles! They are the biggest joke ever!

The us is not going to be a big diesel market. In my area it’s hard to find diesel at stations and that shows that demand for these vehicles is low.
When I think performance I don’t think diesel.

Didn't that video say it's going to be twice the base price of a regular Q8? Not sure if I caught that right, so even if you take the lowest Q8 you would be talking over $134,000 US just for what looks like pretty much an engine upgrade, which clearly is needed, and seats that sound uncomfortable.
Thanks.

Our Mercedes-Benz Sprinter RV uses diesel. We traveled through 26 states in the past 11 months and never had a problem finding diesel anywhere and we travel the “Blue Roads”; We avoid interstates as much as possible.

I like it. I had a 2012 VW TDI Sportwagen that I loved. I love my 2019 SQ5 but I would have bought a diesel SQ5 if it was available.
I suspect that those knocking diesel performance haven't driven one.

And these same people are oblivious to the WEC, and Audi Sport's record at Le Mans. Using diesel power.
The 4.0TDI V8 TT is a monster of an engine, will be well suited to the Q8 with over 900Nm of torque, and I'm not normally a diesel person. Assuming they don't nobble its low rpm torque output to meet Euro 6D.
For the non-diesel markets, such as the US, the SQ8 is likely to use the new lower output (450hp or so) 4.0TFSI TT V8, as used in the latest Panamera GTS. It is likely that an announcement will be made within the next week.
