Unexpected engineering menu

Was driving on errands today, when all of sudden MMI went blank, and VC informed that is it switched off. Turned it back on only to be greeted by engineering menu. Since I was driving, I just chose reboot to normal mode, but from what I remember, not too many useful menu items - software update, user info backup, factory reset, and 1-2 more entries, none of which I thought could be interesting. At the moment of shutdown, mmi was running android auto and I was adjusting vent direction just above the main screen, might have touched it somehow. Should have taken picture of menu, may be next time it happens. Was not able to replicate it again, not yet anyway.

I'm surprised. I have access to all of the in depth manuals for almost every single system for the A8 meant for technicians straight from Audi. I went through the MMI system in great depth and there is absolutely no reference to this engineering menu. If you can repro this please share a screenshot. Many of us are dying to get at this!

Unexpected engineering menu on Q8

My MMI unexpectedly went black then this engineering screen came on (only in drive mode). It’s after hours and can’t get in touch with any service departments. Has anyone had this happen and know how to manage it? The volume knob will let me scroll through the options and select one. Just not sure which one I need to chose.

Reboot to normal mode seems the obvious choice.

Just had this happen. Turn volume knob to select Reboot to Normal Mode, and all will be well. No idea what triggered my glitch. First time in 2 years of ownership.

Also you can press the volume knob for 10 seconds. It will reboot the system. Engineering menu appear if you touch with 2 fingers right top corner of MMI for 3 seconds.

thanks for this post. My wife was fiddling with the MMI on our road trip. Perhaps she double touched that corner of the screen to set off the Engineering menu. Good to know!

Ha, this just happened to my on my 2022 A6 Allroad. I was resting my hand on top right portion of the MMI adjusting the right center air vent and got this same menu. I knew I must have triggered some Easter Egg.
