Default 2008 Vs 2014 R8 V8

Hello All,

Are there any major differences, other than clear body differences between the 2008 and 2014 R8 V8?

I am about to buy my first R8 and I need to decide between the two. The 08 also has magnetic suspension option.

Did they solve the A/C compressor failing in the 14? Or the magnetic suspension failing? I hear these two things fail quite randomly, i'm wondering if this was ever corrected by 14.

Any major differences in the 14 worth noting?

When it comes to a low production car like the R8 it's almost always newer=better. 6 years is a huge difference.
Bear in mind some early R8's had frame issues which if not addressed can lead to frame failure.
Is the '08 a lower price or extremely less mileage than the '14 ?

08 is only like 5k less, which is weird, the 14 is just priced very low. both auto, both magnetic suspension, the 14 insurance is like ~200 more a month

The differences in the R8 V8 as far as I know:

- 4.2L engine HP from 420hp to 430hp in 2011
- Front frame reinforcements from 2010-2011 model year (hit or miss on exact timing)
- Head unit updated in 2009 model year
- Gauge cluster updated to white backlighting (instead of red) in 2009
- NO updates to magride or AC compressor through the years that have shown to reduce or eliminate premature failures

Congrats on the purchase! You should be able to pickup a 3rd party extended warranty from Fidelity and others that should cover the AC compressor. The magride shocks are hit or miss for coverage, if you claim them as 'struts' (and not shocks), people have gotten them covered.
