Considering a used R8 - Clutch life?
How long does a clutch last? (manual).. considering getting a 08-09 around 20k miles... anything I should be concerned about as a daily driver? I'll put less than 10k a year on it, but would keep it a looong time.
Thx |
I to would like to know. So far I see very little on clutch life. Expensive when it does go out. That much I know. |
From what I see if it is not driven hard then 40,000 or better. I want an older r8 badly but the maintenance issues still have me on the fence shocks and AC compressor are common issues. Add to that $450 oil changes that require a bumper removal??? |
hi all
i have a 2010 S4 6 spd with 300,000 km on the original clutch and a 2010 R8 V10 6spd with 30,000 km on the original clutch. Clutch life depends on how you drive / launch the car, if you "ride" the RPM's up and down the rev range, your stop light habits etc. A properly driven clutch can last a long time. Remember that manual quattro cars can't really be "launched" effectively by dropping the clutch. Bottom line... you want a car that hasn't been abused. this helps on all accounts including the clutch. |
