People say the R8 is a bargain etc, and I realize people are willing to pay an extra 60000 or 70000 for an audi badge/ design...but the germans really need to step up their game here, Porsche especially. 80000 sedan 0-60 in 3.5 seconds is just...wow. The only thing a 911 turbo does better I presume is look abit better, and maybe accelerate insignificantly faster, for twice the price....

Never would own a Japanese car. Always Euro for me. Common response.
The R8 is mythical - it's just sooo good. The Porsche feels like a old 1978 Top Siders and the R8 is a pair of 2008 Nikes. There really is no comparison. I have now driven a GT3RS (nervous), a Murcielago (crap), a Carrera GT (twitchy!), Ferrari F430 (scary at the limit) and an R8 at a special Audi sponsored track day. The Audi wins on the track with an amateur like me but on the road, it's actually driveable compared to the Porsche. The R8 is just perfect. There's a reason it's Car of the Year in so many countries. Want fast 0-60? Get a Factory Five for under $50k and it'll do it in 3 seconds (or less!).

Two dealers, independantly, are quoting $50K over for min 1 year.....
So the $80K price tag just got bumped to $130K, and the dealers will be the ones holding a gun to your head, not the secondary market.

no matter how fast it goes, it will always be a Datsun. Porsches can be upgraded.
And it's only a matter of time before some insane Germans make turbo kits for the FSI V8. Plus, an aftermarket turbo-kitted Audi will prolly last longer than that Datsun.
