Is anybody else doing Euro Delivery for their R8? My car is set for build week 41 (around Oct. 12). How soon can I get the car after it's built? Will it take any longer to get it back to the US if I do Euro delivery? I have a conference in Munich on Nov. 1 and I would need to time it around then. My only hesitation is 1. Euro Delivery gets delayed and 2. I don't want to get my car back in the US much more than a week later than normally scheduled. Also, is there any discount on the R8 for Euro Delivery? I see that most Audis are 5% off MSRP.

assuming you've already set up euro delivery (i don't know how) you should know exactly how long it'll take to get the car to your dealer afterward by whoever set that up for you.

in general, you have to wait a few weeks for your car to get to the US after you've taken delivery of it in europe. at least as long as it would have taken via regular delivery, if not longer.

personally, i'd pass on euro delivery for this car. driving a brand new car as rare as this in a land i am not accustomed to driving in is a risk that outweighs any potential pleasure.

The answer is: There are several unknown factors that can affect US dealer delivery after the vehicle is dropped off. It may take up to three weeks longer to get the vehicle than standard delivery. There is also no guarantee that the car will be through quality control when I need to pick it up. So US delivery it is. If I could, I'd drive it like I stole it over there. There's no fun in playing it safe...for me at least.
