Front bumper license holder
 

My new black R8 was built without a front license plate holder. Dealer wants $650+ labor to put in a whole new front end that will take a plate.

Does anyone have any idea how to affix the front plate to the front bumper without changing the whole front end?

The license plate holder is part of the front grill and thus the bumper cover has to be removed
 

in order to swap out the filler panel attached to it's own grill!

My advice is don't put a license plate up front! It makes the R8 look ugly. My state requires the plate up front but I never put it on and have never been pulled over... Just tell the officer they don't make a plate holder if you do get pulled over.

high powered magnets have worked for many folks who hate the front plate...
 

Keep the plate behind the front seat. Get pulled over for a fix it ticket, just stick it on long enough to keep the county mounty happy and take it back off when you're done.

High powered magnets can work long term too. Search the S4 forums for details.

Your dealer is not being excessive, just had to switch one out the other way (ordered wrong :()
 

and it cost me 685 including labor to make my client happy...

I agree, I do not want to put a front license plate on my car but I also don't want anyone to have a legitimate reason to stop me. I know there are some decent magnetic mounts for front plates out there but I can't find the link to them...anyone else know of a good magnetic one?
