pictures do not do the car and the details of it justice. Looks worth every penny of whatever the final price is. Will be hard to choose between next RS6 and now the R8 in 2009 when I need to replace my RS6.

Sadly the folks in Germany and the folks at AoA are unlikely to give us the RS6. Price point about
the same as the R8 at current exchange rates, with the previous RS6 experience leaving a bad taste in dealer's mouths, means enthusiasm for bringing it over is low.
Go R8!

Wow...that would be a mistake in my opinion...the next RS6 is THE next car I am waiting for
and the timing is perfect as my CPO warranty runs out in 2009 at which point the RS I have will be way too expensive to maintain. I understand why the dealers wouldn't be thrilled but I bet there is a very large porportion of current and former RS6 owners that would buy the next one. I know I will if finances cooperate.

Even my own comment above explains it that I want to ditch my RS6 the same second it runs out of
warranty as the repair costs are way out there...another tranny for $12K...no thanks. Audi must have taken a pretty big hit on all the trans and DRC repairs under warranty.

I hear you. Now that AoA is being forced to pay it's way rather than get support from Germany,
they have to try and balance out the cost of launching new models like the R8 V8, R8 V10, the A5, new TT, and the new A4, so an expensive niche car like the RS6 is a rather low priority. Dealers may like the work it gives them, but not the headaches - especially the bad CSI scores that are bound to happen.

i think the RS6 is a high priority car for audi
the RS6 put the performance in audi on the map as part of its resurrection in 2003. s/p RS4 they cannot skip the next RS6. they'll take the loss and limit the number of them severely but audi (and consequently, its dealers {a la R8})would rather lose tangible money in order to maintain the intangible worth and long term money the RS6 line extends to the brand (in terms of A4 sales, for example).
sure april that your post was not really more to incite discussion
we'll get the RS6.
