R8 V12 TDI "Concept" at the Detroit Auto Show

A rumor says that Audi will show an R8 fitted with the V12 TDI at the Detroit Auto Show. There are some scans showing this R8. The info from the magazine states that it will be heavier (220 pounds for the engine alone) but will be .4 second quicker to 60 than the V8. Potentially putting it in the 3.5 second range.

pretty damn sure some high audi official said the TDI is too heavy for the R8. Also, test mules have
been the blown V10 of the RS6...switching to the TDI is just to boost magazine sales.

This is my dream car...
An R8 fitted with the V12 TDI would just be sick. It would have so much torque and just shred the streets. Anyone who has seen the R10 on the track can appreciate this engine

I like the attempt but too many issues for me. Weight, operating temp, sound, etc.
One of the best things about the R8 is the noise. The diesel just wouldn't match that incredible music from the V8. The R8 is a bit piggy already and if they make it heavier, it kills the razors-edge responsiveness it has now.
