Default I don't mean to be retarded isn't this the engine that's in the Audi R10 Lemans Race Car.

I don't understand why it would be inconceivable to put it in the R8?

Default great catch, but whoever doubted those were pchops should be shot

I still think Audi will show a V12TDI R8 at Detroit. Remember: "Stunning *concept* [study]"

"Dear Friends,

the engine does have a dry sump lubrication system. The oil storage tank is placed counterpart to the gas tank. The oil is forwarded through deep mounted oil coolers (behind Sideblades) by a bilge pump. Water-intercoolers are located in the front, two sitting left/right behind the (larger) air intakes, the center mounted 3rd one behind the singleframe. Capacities are increased by ~30% for thermic reliability. The oil circulation is good for a lateral acceleration up to 1.21g.

Ricardo (r) is technology partner of Audi Motorsport since the last 7 years and does have a large portion on five le Mans victories. As you might know, they supply the transmission for the Peugeot 908 le Mans Racer as well. All V12 TDi. So you might get a idea who belikely have assisted in fitting a transmission to the concept.

Qisha"

Default Does anybody know what the redline on an engine like this will be? Also about the sound...

Will it sound anything like the R10 TDI race car? Please say it won't! Have a hear for yourself.... quiet and IMHO lame sounding.

That sound would be a deal breaker for me, regardless of performance.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=OuNtw5XbxJg</a

The sound of an oil burner will never match the gas engine. The exposive detonation is lacking

Default Redline would be somewhere between 5-6K. The sound I imagine would be a bit better...

as it will be tuned for such. The Audi Sport guys care about performance, not what the car sounds like....a road car, sound will be a factor and I am sure it can be changed but this will not sound like an LP640. Thats for sure.

Finally, all of what I just said is irrelevent. The V12 is not comming here I dont think....but maybe a concept version.
