I just bought a 2006 A8. A little confused because the button on the console says "CD/AUX" but everything I have read indicates there is no Aux input. Ideally I would like to be able to plug things in for sound through the system via a 3.5mm cable. Is there something I can do/add to make the "Aux" portion active? Lots of searches indicate a 3rd party module but why would "Aux" be on the button if it wasn't capable?

Some searches seemed to answer this for me on the "CD/AUX" issue. Aux is non-existent unless I had the TV tuner or other module(s). I ended up ordering and installing the GROM unit. Installed it in less than 30 mins. Most of that time was prep and understanding what to do. Actual work takes about 10 mins. It is expensive for what it is but it works well. iPhone is plugged in without issue. Sound is perfectly crisp. WAY better than bluetooth streaming to an FM channel. Not to mention it cleaned up the console quite a bit because I just have the lightning cable for streaming and charging.
