Default 2013 Q5 MMI just blew, speakers first, then MMI out

Our 2013 Q5 had an issue where there appeared to be a knock in the door, then the speaker volume got incredibly low... followed ultimately by the MMI going blank and only showing the start-up screen periodically and then going away.

Is this a safe mode if a speaker blows? I have checked the fuses and everything appears to be in order. Crazy to think that the MMI/radio can be gone, though could be likely with the knock sound in the door followed by the dead screen.

Any thoughts or experience on this one?

Pulled the door panel off and found that the connection was good, but uncovered another issue; there was no sound in the dash speaker (driver side). I bumped that and the sound came on.

I'm thinking there is a short in that speaker or the control unit (if there is one) that supplies the signal to that speaker and door speaker.

How difficult is it to access that area? I'm thinking that dash needs to come apart and a little worried.

Tore apart everything and found it sourced back to the head unit... bad am/fm radio antenna cable/connection. Adjusted wires and reconnected, everything works great now.
