Default Another DIY tip from a weekend hack

So, I've always had a little bit of what I thought was a ground loop hum after installing my Denison Icelink in my A6. Was never really noticeable until recently when I pulled the HU to fix the 20 pin connector that became loose back there causing the Icelink not to send it's signal to the HU. After pushing the HU back in, the buzz was extremely annoying. It was kind of embarrassing since last night I drove a buddy and I to the Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) concert and we couldn't even rock out on the way down.

I pulled the HU again tonight to do some experimenting. Turns out there is a metal bar behind the climate control that the ends on my RCA cables for the pre-outs were coming into contact with. So, being the hack that I am, I covered them with electrical tape, pushed the HU back in, and bam! back to perfect working condition. I'm posting this mainly as a heads-up to anyone else running off the pre-outs on the back of the Sym I or Sym II units. Probably would be easiest to wrap the RCA connectors with tape before running them. I'm sure there's a more professional solution, but this seems to work.

Default Also discovered this fix with RCA's back at the cd changer for XM and Ipod inputs..Can't take..

credit for it tho as I saw a install on another car done this way. Seems to work just fine with electrical tape.
