Default Can your car connect to your hotspot?

It's there any way to have the car connect to my hotspot rather than use is own, pathetically slow, 3G network?

Not without a kludgy external setup.

Audi 3GP MMI Onlineservices via Tethering

What year is your car? Later models support the faster HSPA+ networks and earlier models can be upgraded. They also support AT&T which has much better latency at least in my market. I've compared my upgraded system with AT&T to the newer LTE MMIs and there isn't much if any noticeable difference in speed as far as the Audi connect services are concerned. The only place where you benefit from LTE speed is if you utilize the car's hotspot, which I don't.

Superswiss:

Is there an upgrade kit for a 2014 RS7? I have the (slow) 3G T-mobile equipment at present, do use the hotspot, and find the service irritating at best. Would you mind providing a pointer to the Audi part number, if an upgrade kit is available?

So, the 2014 units actually already support HSPA+ and they also support AT&T, however, you can't officially sign up with AT&T, but you can just use a SIM card from a tablet. I would try that first and see if it works better for you with AT&T. The upgrade should be available for your unit. I actually had a 2015 MMI unit in my car, because the entire thing had to be replaced a little over a year ago and I was using an AT&T SIM card from one of my tablets for about a year. Last week I decided to make it official and had the dealership upgrade my modem and then I signed up with Audi connect for an AT&T subscription.

Here's the information from my invoice along with the part # for the conversion kit.
