Looking at a new Audi. Before I buy a car with the MMI Navigation Plus I would like to know the eventual cost of the map updates. Five free updates come with the purchase. First question. How quickly do you use these five updates, is it user controlled (every year for example) or everytime Audi announces an update? If whenever there is an update how often do they come out. Once the updates are no longer free what is the cost of the update?

In a nutshell:

It covers the next 5 updates that are released after the version that came on your car, regardless of whether and when you install them. If you wait until the 5th one (approximately 2.5 years from purchase), that's the last one that will be free.

There's speculation on this, but I haven't seen any real numbers. I recommend talking to your dealership.
