So I dropped a 512GB SD card into my 2018 TTRS and it made short work of indexing my music. Unfortunately, it stopped about about midway through the bands starting with the letter O (~200GB in), and doesn't detect any playable music in any folders after, it does still see all of the folders. Browsing by folder or artist has the same effect. Any suggestions or known limits?

Unless your car is different than my 2018 SQ5, the max size for an SD card is 128MB - at least according to the manual. I use 2 128MB cards. And, IIRC, there are some limits because there is a finite amount of memory used to index the metadata. Owners manual describes it all.

I thought I saw somewhere that it allows 3000 folders and filenames.

I have more than that (files) on each SD card.

I have almost 6000 songs, in just under 500 folders... all ripped at 320kbps MP3 (highest resolution possible).
It only takes up 28 gigabytes of storage on an SD card.

The SD input of the MMI can't read audio files with a higher resolution than 320k MP3.
What could you possibly need a 512 gigabyte SD card for? Do you have 100,000+ songs?

As mentioned in a previous post, I believe the max SD card size, that the MMI can handle is: 128GB
