Is Gracenote supposed to provide disc information for CDs? When I play music from an SSD card the album name and songs are listed as is the album image. I imagine some of this information comes from Gracenote. When I play a CD the song entries are generically listed with numbers and there is no album name. Is Gracenote note available for CDs?

With a CD you would need a data connection of some sort to access Gracenote or some other database. PCM files on CDs contain no metadata. Other music file formats like MP3, etc. can contain meta data like song name, artist, cover art, etc. That's probably why your songs on SD cards show information.
