Help me out with a sub and amp question
I have a Diamond M5 DVC sub at 4ohms per coil. How in the hell will I amp this thing? Will I need 2ohms mono or what? What are my options?

One sub? You can wire it up so it shows an amp either a 2-Ohm or
an 8-Ohm load. The former requires an amp that is stable at 2-Ohms, of course.
I run a 4-Ohm DVC sub with only a 4-Ohm-stable amp, but I'm running a total of 4 bridged channels to it (channels 3&4 to one VC, and 5&6 to the other VC). |
Same problem
I think i'm about to run into the same problem. Looking at getting a Kicker CompVR for my PPI PC2200.1 amp. The CompVR is a 4-ohm DVC, 150 RMS per coil. Amp does 2x50w 4-ohm, 2x100w 2-ohm, or 1x200w 4-ohm.
So I think I have to wire it to show up as a 2-ohm, and only get 100w (1 channel) from my amp. I think... comments? |
