Default Interior Lighting Modification - Overhead Switch Function Change

Hi All!

About 2 months ago I got 2015 S4 and I’m looking forward to do mods to it. I know what Im going to do and how to get there for the most part, need time and right tools for the job, still doing research.

The reason why I’m posting this is because I’ve looked around for quite some time and can’t find anything about it, but maybe someone has a solution or can help and point me to it.

I want to make the modification to the dome light assembly (over head light) with map lights because it is too bright.

Switch has 3 positions I will call it left, middle & right
Left 0 - Lights always OFF
Middle - Lights ON with Doors Open
Right 1 - Lights Always ON

I want to change function of the middle position!

What happens currently in middle position is all the bulbs in the dome light assembly come ON, (main light & map light)
I want only the Map Lights to Come with the doors open.
Retain function always ON when switch is the position 1, to turn on main light and map light.

Pulling out bulbs is a short term solution.
I’m attaching a picture to visualize more.

Wondering who would want to get this done in their cars. Hopefully somebody has the same feelings about it as I do.

PS I also have 2016 Q5 3.0 with the same problem….

Thanks,
Radek!
