Is it common for navigation plus to be way off on its arrival time?

I've been using GPS systems for years (06 MINI, 08 Nissan, Tom Tom app for IPhone) and am familiar with their limitations, but the nav plus in my new Audi is consistently way off on its arrival times.

For example, as I left my house on a recent 2 hour trip (almost entirely highway, no traffic), my estimated arrival time was 30 minutes later than the arrival time predicted by the Tom Tom iPhone app (which proved to be right on, and was almost the same as Google Map's estimated arrival time.

WIthin a few minutes of leaving my house (on back roads, driving about the speed limit), the GPS reduced the arrival time by 5 minutes, but it was still way off.

Any input appreciated.

The speed limits that the Nav uses for your estimated speed is slower than reality. I think my old Lexus gave us the ability to change those speed but I am not sure we can change them on our MMI

Thanks for the info. I keep meaning to take an entire trip while driving at the speed limit displayed by the nav, but that idea loses its appeal pretty quickly in an S4...
