Question about adding sub...
I have an '01 bose. I want to add a sub to fill the base. I'm leaning towards Alumapro in a sealed box, but I don't know what size. Would a 12 be overpowering??? Would a 10 not hit hard enough??? Any other ideas/suggestioins/help/anything would be greatly appreciated.

You should consider primarily what you listen to and how you want to install it.................
Don't lie to yourself and say, "Well even though I love techno and rap, I think a 10" will suffice." It simply won't. As for size and type, you need to first consider how much power you plan to send it or them. The size vs. sound quality is a pathetic argument that most people love to get into. You CAN make a 15" sub sound very musical, contrary to popular belief. So if anyone starts the usual tirade regarding big subs sounding sloppy and uncontrolled, they have designed and installed their system poorly. It's up to your goals, uses, requirements and needs.

I added 1 10" sub to conserve trunk space...
and it works for me. But my preference is to have the bass compliment the music and not stand out too much. If you like boomy bass I'd definitely get a 12, especially since A4 trunks are sealed so well.

To some extent, the generalization is True, but the converse is also true. My friend has this amazing Subwoofer enclosure. Wanna know how big his subs were? ..... It was a pair of 4" in a pair of 0.20 Cubic feet Vented Enclosure. It was a mini sony home system that he got from japan, and hooked up to his car. He razed the from seats and tucked it under-and-behind them. I was going crazy looking for a pair of 10" that wasn't there. Nothing in the trunk, nor spare tire wells. All stock speakers..... didn't know until he pointed to the back of the front seats. Amazing little suckers....
Has all the deep sound, but you can tell its not a 10-12" because no rattle, even though it sounded like huge subs. Amazing.....
