question about adding a sub & amp

I have a 2006 A4, with the factory bose symphony deck which has the indash 6 cd changer and tape player, and factory installed XM sat radio. Also have the factory bluetooth hands free. I want to add a couple subwoofers and amp to it. Is it possible to have the factory installed xm sat radio, the steering wheel controls, bluetooth, and the heads up display (inbetween rpm gauge and speedo), all work with a aftermarket head unit? I was thinking of just keeping the factory head unit, because all those things function quite well now.

What do i need for installation of the amp if im keeping the factory head unit? And what would i need if i opted to get an aftermarket unit, but retain all the functions?

no, yes, no, no

My favorite line level converter currently is the Audison Bit One.

Re: no, yes, no, no

the audison looks like overkill. dont they make something that will just tap into the wires behind head unit, and give a place to plug in the RCAs and what not?

yes...

..plenty of LOC devices out there, much simpler and less expensive.

Are you going to do the work yourself?

prolly take it somewhere...but just wanted to get an idea of what i should do. where can i buy one of these LOC that is compatible with what i got , are any of them set up so you do not have to cut into any wires, and its all plug and play? somepeople say u can run RCAs from the factory bose amp to the new aftermarket amp? is this true?

no, no and no...

...(sorry, it's catching) :)

-None are set up so you don't have to cut wires.

-You can run wires from the BOSE amp, only if you catch the wire at the input side 9coming from the head unit. Those would be "low level" and can feed signal to the new amp.

A qualified car stereo shop will be able to handle this for you.
