Default Australia DVD maps?

Just got myself an RNS-E unit to install, just wondering if anyone has any sources on australian DVD maps (other than audi themselves)?

No one would happen to have a *gasp* burnt copy I could try out first? It is an EU unit, so I'm guessing I'm going to have to do some fiddling/flashing of firmware to get it to work here. I'd like to try that before putting it in my car and/or buying legit DVD maps if possible...

Cheers

Default Where are you located?

I'm happy to help you get it up and running/sort out firmware issues/recode it etc if you're in Melbourne.

Default Sydney... also...I think I've made a mistake...

I've managed to get an 8E0 RNS-E instead of a 4B0, don't know if that ruins my chances for a B5 S4?

Default 8E0 is for B6/B7 A4 and S4

Umm, yep..

The 8E0 is the part number for the B6 and B7 series cars, not the B5. For the B5 you'll require an A6 unit (which from memory is a 4B0)as the face plates are different.

Hi Guys,

I just bought the following from Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=004&sspagename=S TRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=14008258868 1&rd=1&rd=1
for my 2003 A4 B6.

Ive looked around and found a good document from www.audiretrofit.co.uk on upgrading from a cencert single din to a double din.

Only thing I am worried about is the software. I rang Audi, and gave them the P/N but they cnt find it in the system?

Do you know where I could get my hands on a copy?

Default Software for RNS-E?

Where abouts are you? I'm in Melbourne and have done the conversion a few times.

What part number did you give to Audi?

Are you talking about the map disk for the RNS-E?

If so, the current map disk part number is 8P0 919 884 G, which is what I'm running. Cost from an Audi dealership should be around the $915 mark .

One other question - have you received the climate control and double din cage/chassis from the eBay seller? If so, what sort of condition are they in (ie are they damaged)?

Default Re: Software for RNS-E?

I havent recieved the goods yet. Still awaiting them. Thats teh P/N I gave audi and they said they dont have it... I'll try another dealership.

Can you use a copied version of the software?

I am in sydney.

How straight forward is the install?

Default Some answers..

I'm a little confused as to what part number you gave to Audi.. Was it the part number for the RNS-E unit itself (8E0 035 192 C/D/H/K etc) or was it the part number for the double din climate control and double din cage/chassis?

Hopefully your climate control and double din chassis come through in OK condition - I've seen some of that eBay seller's products first hand and the condition was pretty poor..

In answer to your question as to whether you can use a copied map disk, yes, assuming the copy is done correctly (not straightforward) a copied disk could be used.

The install when coming from a single din setup is quite time consuming as you have to remove the centre console (which goes all the way back to the rear ashtray)..
