Bird droppings left strange residue...How do I get rid of it?

Let me guess....a "pitted" / "melted" looking clearcoat....
....right where the offending dropping was. I've had that happen on my A4 as well. I've had decent luck with a Meguiar's clay bar and 3M Imperial Hand Glaze on the spots.
