Experience with ZAINO ZFX??

I just tried the new ZFX for the first time and working with it was a little different than with Z-2 only. After waiting longer than the recommended 30 min curing time, I began removing as I normally do and found it strangly difficult to remove. It was as if the coat was never as dry as Z-2 alone. So I waited another hour, still difficult to remove. I am waiting to see what it looks like in the sun to evaluate whether that signature shine is still there. Anyone else try this stuff yet??

That looks great... I've got a question for you.

Do you apply Z1 after each coat of Zaino? I'm looking at doing two coats of Z5 and two of Z2. Do I need Z1 before each step?

Re: That looks great... I've got a question for you.

no, just the initial Z1 followed immediately by Z5, then allow both to dry together. Remove those two, then I usually Z-6 the whole car (or in sections) right before applying next coat of Z-5 or Z-2. The Z-6 is great to remove any dust, dog hair, etc. Z-1 is not necessary between coats. Apparently, with the new ZFX, the Z-1 step isn't necessary. But, my limited experience (one coat) with ZFX makes me prefer working with Zaino without the ZFX--easier to remove.

I asked Mr Zaino about whether you need to start over after a while with the Dawn dish detergent then Z-1, and he said that Dawn won't even get residual Zaino off, so the best thing to do is after a while, in my case a year, redo the Z-1 and Z-2 step before adding a whole bunch of Z-2 layers.

The most I've added at one time is four coats (Z5, Z5, Z2, Z2) and it was very smooth. However, I am now concentrating on just keeping one coat of Z-2 per month. Probably more than you wanted to know.

Keep in mind if you don't use the ZFX you are supposed to wait 24 hours-->

between coats. I haven't tried the ZFX yet so can't comment on it's performance. I did the same as you last year--2-Z5 and 2-Z2 initially and then a coat of Z2 every four weeks. Since you only have to use the Z1 on the first coat I got to the point I can put a coat of Z2 on in 30 minutes and buff it off in another 30. So little work for such a great shine. Gave it the last coat in late October and it is still beading but ofcourse I have been able to hand wash all winter with the warm weather in NH this year.
