i am now <finally> a clay bar convert...

i had a Mother's Clay Bar kit sitting in the garage for over a year. bought it to use on the S4...which is long gone now.

finally managed to use it today - AMAZING!

definetely recommend a clay bar treatment to anyone before they proceed to wax.

it took me ages to get around to it myself...

its a rather daunting proccess, just knowing that the first time might take all day.

clearly, the results are worth it. :)

You are correct sir

I've never understood the hate for clay, I was sold after the first 5 minutes of use.

Nothing gets the grunge off faster or easier. Why on earth would anyone polish or wax over the crap that regular washing just can't remove?

TRM 01-02-2005 03:22 PM

good points. i was not convinced myself so...

i tried a little experiment as a 1st timer.

i did 1/2 the hood with just my normal wax and the other 1/2 i clay barred then waxed. net result was a big difference. although the waxing took off some of the stuff you can feel with your hands, the clay bar took 100% of it off. and the black junk ending up on the bar surface really surprised me.

i realized i didn't need to double-pass on the wax like i normally do either. i used to wax in one direction and then revserse over the same spot while the paste was still wet. this would get up more of the junk...or so i thought.

i snapped a few pics:

Nobody's perfect and sometimes...

it takes a while to see the "light" of any new process. Welcome aboard!

Dan.

I performed a demo in *your driveway* 1.5 years ago...and you're just now

discovering the magic?

Can I convince you to switch from the Kitt wax to something else?

RKA 01-03-2005 04:06 PM

Everything an STi owner needs to know about Kit wax...

Kit so old-school, I'd rather Simonize

whilst remembering that Turtle Wax gives a hard shell finish.
