Default I think someone took a scouring pad to my paint...

I've just bought a 98 A4 and there are 2 spots on the hood where it looks like the previous owner tried removing some spots with a 3M kitchen scouring pad or something equally horrible. How should I try to clean this up - glaze? rubbing compound?

Start with 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, if that doesn't do it, go to something stronger...

Default I'd start with something stronger..

Meguiars Fine Cut Cleaner, then followed with Swirl Remover, or IHG, then wax.
