Default To Melissa at Autodetail.com: It's about those annoying links to your company's site.

Melissa, it's really annoying to see the <img src="https://forums.audiworld.com/pics/url.gif"> icon accompanying your posts, when it turns out that the link is simply to your company's web site. A <img src="https://forums.audiworld.com/pics/url.gif"> icon is <i>supposed</i> to indicate that the link is to a source of relevant information, pertinent to that particular thread. It's misleading and, IMO, really annoying when it's just an advertisement. It's one thing to be linking to a FAQ at your site; it's quite another to be linking generally to autodetail.com. Please stop!

Default Um, that may have been a little harsh, but I do agree it's a little misleading...

maybe you can put the link in your signature instead of the post. Just a suggestion.

My point is simply that the link icon becomes meaningless if it doesn't indicate relevant info.

Default Yes, a link in the sig is the way to go. Should've suggested that myself. Sorry for being harsh.

Sorry if my post seemed overly harsh. I said essentially the same thing in a post a couple weeks ago, but she either didn't read it or chose to ignore it. So I guess I allowed myself to get overly irritated today when I saw it happening all over again.

You should email them directly, no need to blast them on this board.

Default Concerning my URL link...

Good Day,

I am a paid advertiser here at AudiWorld and will link my URL to every post that I reply too. Sorry if it bothers you, but I will do my best to answer your questions. Then at the end of my post, you can click to our site to find the recommended products, information, etc.

Sincerely,
Melissa

Default Ahem.....

You can link to your site <i>without</i> the <img src="https://forums.audiworld.com/pics/url.gif"> icon appearing next to the subject line of your posts. Putting the link in your signature, instead of in the body of your message, will accomplish this. You can make it an active hyperlink by using simple html code.

As just a visitor here at AW I'm obviously in no position to require you to do anything you don't want to do. But saying that you're going to keep doing it regardless of how I or anyone else feels about it, simply because you're a paid adverstiser, makes it obvious that your participation on this forum is driven by nothing more than your desire to sell products. No one else participating here is motivated by commercial interests.

All I'm suggesting is that you make your posts less misleading by not having the <img src="https://forums.audiworld.com/pics/url.gif"> icon accompany every post. If you can't be bothered to do this in response to this request, then I guess you have even more contempt for the opinions of others than I previously thought.

Over and out.
