Default Q5 Dashboard problem

Hi all,

I had my dashboard replaced by Audi dealership and now a week later started noticing white like residue in one area of the dashboard. I did some online research on it and some people have said that the residue may be caused by outgassing of the oils in the material used on the dashboard, so once the oils dry out they turn white. It may be that the material is faulty...all other areas of the dashboard look good. The big question here is if I can even get them off. I contacted dealership service manager and waiting for a response back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would try an interior cleaner like CarPro Inside and see if that helps. I've always had the same issue with outgassing on all new cars and a quality interior product will wipe it away. For me it only last 1-2 months

Thanks for the advice. I will give CarPro Interior a try hopefully it will solve my problem. I have tried Chemical Guys All Purpose Cleaner and 303 Protectant but didnít do anything.

So the dashboard outgassing lasted for you 1-2 months before it went away? How many times a week did you use CarPro cleaner for? After you apply the product should you wait few minutes before wiping it down?

Sorry for the delayed response. I use the CarPro interior every time I wash the car. That's every 7-10 days. At this point its not longer for outgassing...I just like the way it looks and I like a clean interior.

303 is really good and also has UV protection which is great for dashboard. I don't believe that CarPro Interior has any UV protection so keep that in mind for long term use if your car sees a lot of sun.

Thanks for your reply. I am getting the CarPro Inside cleaner today so hopefully it will remove the white coat residue from my dashboard. The 303 didnít remove any of the residue. I feel like I need something stronger than that. How long did the outgassing lasted for you before it went away? Looking at the pictures I posted do you think this looks like outgassing?

My outgassing lasted 2-3 months and produced a visible residue. I see a little bit of discoloration in the pics, but not much so not sure what it is.

Let us know how the Inside works

Yes I donít know if the discoloration is from outgassing or is something else...but I will give it a try with the Inside cleaner and let you know how it works out. Thanks again.
