What brings back the older black bumpers/trim that VW's used?

You know the faded black bits that turn gray over time?

You could try Adams In-And-Out spray.

Default Longest lasting solution is dye

I've used this on severely faded trim on older vehicles.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autogeek.net/forblacbumtr.html">forever black</a></li></ul>

Default EDIT: While admitting that nothing I've found is perfect, Mothers Back to Black has been good

for me. It's a rub in/buff out type gel that seems to stay for some time. I have tried *many* products and ALL of them fade, can sometimes be messy, and have convinced me that replacing with new plastics is ultimately the only real solution.

With that in mind, the Mothers product has been a solid performer. Sold locally at Autozone stores and such. I was not happy with any of the "permanent black" dye-type products.

I previously mentioned a Meguire's product, but was mistaken. I checked my bottle and have corrected it to show as Mother's Back to Black.

Default Yeah... I saw that but have no first hand experience with it.

Is it good?

Default Ditto on the Mothers

I've used it and it lasts longer than anything else out there other than the dye products. Much longer lasting than 303, Vinylex, etc.

Default It's okay...

It's a last resort type product for severely faded trim. I've used it on our commuter Civic, pickup truck bumper, that sort of thing but not on our other vehicles.

Default Agree on the Mothers B2B and caution against Griots bumper and trim reconditioner

The Griots product is similar to liquid black shoe polish. It is effective in making things black again, but I could never get it to dry evenly. The result at first looked like a kid scratching crayon on my trim and even after I started applying the product sparingly with extreme caution it was never as even or consistent as I would like.

Default I would first do the griots then the adams in and out...and follow up with more in and out every

wash...it is such a great product (I go through about a can a month).
