Default Replaced brake light switch - no luck

I have an '07 A6 3.2 FWD and the 3rd brake light was constantly on when driving. The fuses were all good, so I figured it was the brake light switch. I put in an upgraded version, compatible with the vehicle (VW made, not a knock-off). Now the brake lights won't turn on at all, meaning I can't even get out of park to drive it to a shop. I can manually override, of course to R or N if I want to tow it, but I'm looking for possible leads to avoid that.I checked all of the fuses and used a multi-meter to confirm the switch is functioning properly and that there's power leading to it. Any thoughts?

I also should note, the ECS and cruise control stopped working.
