Brakes thread - imagine
Judging from the lack of posts in certain areas on this forum I'm guessing this whole chat room is geared more towards folks polishing their 26" wheels and chrome shift ***** and what not.
I fine it strange as mature as this forum is that there's very little technical information on owner maintainence of basic procedures- like brakes. After having been just hosed by the dealer, I came to this site thinking there would be plenty of info. on the topic of brakes. Wrong. Too bad too because there are other sites for other car marques that do very well in this regard.
If anyone out ther ehas any experience actually changing brake pads/rotors (on an Audi Q7) I'd like to hear from them.
Thanks, Mark

Brakes
Thanks Kris,
You've pretty much confirmed what I thought and expressed here. I thought I'd ask a brake question in the brake section of this forum, but Yes, I did also post in th egeneral area.
Whats interssting is that there's allot of chatter in the general section about people getting ripped off on dealer visits where they insist rotors need to be changed with pads every 30K miles or so, but no real technical support of HOw to Change out Pads etc.
Anyway, thanks for the post

well, in fairness, the Q7 is not necessarily the kind of vehicle that many people will want to DIY on. I know there are some who will, but perhaps we need to encourage them to share their experiences with us.

Brakes
Right. My guess is most folks would rather be wrenching on somthing with a little more exotic twist to it. Either that or they cant seem to pull themsleves away from those 26 inchers.
Thanks again

Or, they just don't wrench on anything, and they'd rather take their relatively new car to the dealer or a shop for repairs and maintenance.
Me, I don't let dealers touch anything I own unless they are paying, and as much as I love my favorite shop, I love working on my cars. =)
I wish I had a Q7 to do a writeup on brakes for you.

Q7 Brakes
Thanks again Kris,
Turns out the topic is alive and well, it just for some reason ended up under the Q7 Section. I'm guessing the folks that own Q7's and visit this forum just find it easier to go there. Turns out there's a whole bunch of topics being discussed- granted some not so technical, but there is a discussion on Brakes I wished I'd read before my last trip to the dealer.
Anyway, yes, wrenching on some fine machinery is very rewarding. Nothing like the smell of gear oil in the morning!

Brakes thread imagine
Has anyone actually does this? I know a couple of people have asked about it, but can any give some info about how hard it was to do or how long it took. Or just give any more info about how to go about it.
