Default i wnat to do A8 / Boxster brake upgrade.....

1997 A4 Quattro 1.8T

where is the best place to get used Boxster calipers? about how much do they cost?

I know liam dosent make brackets anymore, is my best bet BIRA? or EVO? or somone else?

I have stainless lines already, can i use an adapter? or just get new lines? if so what lines will work?

If there is a comprehensive kit that will cost me the same, less or even just slightly more than piecing it together let me know, i dont realy know if i trust ECS? ive read a few iff-y posts about them, for brakes anyway, any truth to this?

TIA for any help.

Default some info.

I got my brackets from liam... however evo sells em too... same for lines.

Calipers can be found once in a while on car-part.com.

pads I got from europartsdirect (axxis ultimate)

rotors I already had.

Default my set-up

Brackets from Liam via eBay $150
Clandestine 8mm spacers - eBay - $65
Lugs - eBay - $40
Porsche early-911 stainless lines - eBay - $40
see a pattern yet?
Boxster calipers (used) - eBay - $300
A8 slotted rotors - ECS - $180
Mintex Reds (destroyed while bedding in) -> Hawk HPS - Raceshopper.com - $90
Boxster caliper hardlines - Pelican Parts - $20

To do it again, I'd go the ECS complete route and get new calipers as mine need rebuilding already. I'd also plan on using a different hose as the complaints seem to be based on thier selection.

Default Re: some info.

I have the 986 calipers over the slotted/drilled A8 rotors, but have a question. Is it needed to change the proportioner valve when this setup is used. Just curious, thanks.
