Brand new 2018 Audi Q7 T3.0 brake dust
I got my new Audi 2 days ago and proceeded to take it on a family road trip (~300miles). We noticed that there is a LOT of brake dust on the rims already and outside around the wheels smells like burning rubber. Is this normal?? I’d call the dealership but we have no service in the mountains, only Internet. Thanks

Have you found out what was causing it. I am having the same on my q7 with 400 miles. Or is it normal.

Guys, congrats on your new Q7s. You’re probably ok. Our carbon metallic brake pads do make a lot of black brake dust. Mercedes, BMW, Porsche do it too. They stop great but wheels get dirty VERY quickly. There ARE low dust ceramic pads available from aftermarket suppliers like Akebono. Some swear by them. I feel there is a bit of a performance trade off so I run the OEM type and put up with the dust. As to the rubber burning odor, it is likely just new components offgasing but do be observant in case you have a brake caliper dragging. ( one getting very hot compared to others.)
