Default Should I change my brake pad when it is at 8mm

my dealership told me that I needed to change my rear brake pad for my Audi Q7 2011 when it was 8mm?

do I need to change it . On the service report they mark the brakes as unsafe.

Is is that a standard practise by Audi or they trying to up sell me to hanging my brake while it may have 6 months or more of life from them?

anyone experienced this feomaudi dealership

You change your pads, and potentially rotors, when the sensor advises you to do so.

BTW, 8mm is a LOT of pad!

They told me it was at wear limit and that sensor light will be on any weeks

I now feel they trying to make extra money by having me change my pads when not needed

I wouldn't change my pads till they are under 3MM, you have PLENTY of life on your pads.

Theye gave me this explanation... there is actually only 3mm left on the pads as the other 5mm of the pad is some sort of pressure or compression pad .

i think that is BS

why advertised the pad as 14mm when they telling me that you can only used up to 9mm before you have unsafe braking condition

any Audi tech in this forum that can verify if this is correct or Audi Is BS ing to make sale quota
