Ok, let's suppose you have a B6 sedan or equivalent and you're concerned about potholes
ride quality, etc.
17's = better ride quality than 16's with virtually no incremental rim bending risk
18's = better ride quality than 17's? how much more bone jarring over toronto bumps and streetcar tracks?
19's = better looking but not worth it? or maybe they are?
Keep in mind that I'm considering getting Mille Miglia wheels which are not the strongest in the world.

Usually the bigger the wheel the smaller the tire aspect ratio (45-40-35 series). Given this...
The ride quality usually gets worst because the sidewalls are stiffer. This also brings up the point that the smaller the side wall the bigger the chances are you will damage a wheel.
On the performnace side of thing the bigger the wheel the bigger the tire gets, both these increase weight. To get a light big wheel is not a problem if you are ready to pay big $$$ this will most likely ensure you a forged wheel which is stronger than cast, pound for pound.

thanks. I know the theory, i'm wondering what people think the sweet spot is for toronto roads.
I suspect that 19's force you to have to be too careful and that 17's are fine. I'm really wondering where 18's fit. Headaches? Nothing to worry about?
