Is anyone interested in Carbotech Brake Pads? I may be organizing something small...

Since Carbotech does not have a retailer/distributor in Canada, I have been talking to them directly and they have offered a small discount if I get an order for 5 sets or more. Nothing huge but 10% off never hurts. And they will ship USPS so NO BROKERAGE!!! Since they are made in the US there is no duty as well.

Carbotech has an excellent street pad called the Bobcats that offer better bite and lower dust than many other pads as well as many other features like long life and rotor friendliness.

I am ordering some track pads as well for Carmine and myself and we are going with XP8's which have some great reviews and will definitely withstand track like conditions better than the Bobcats.

For prices and fittment, look at their website...

Their FAQ sections is an excellent source for information about braking systems in general as well as all their products.

If you are in the GTA then we can split the shipping otherwise if you are in Quebec or out West then we would arrange your own shipping directly to you.

Okay, you can start the GB jokes now : )

http://www.ctbrakes.com</a

FYI, the track line is very loud. The Bobcat line is bearable.

Had them last season, performance wise, they are great. Brake dust is still up there IMO. But be warned, they are loud.

Then again, not everyone is a CDIY like me...

If you can swap your own pads, then who cares.

I'm in, definitely a set of Bobcats and maybe a set of track pads too (XP8 or better)

Need front pads for B6 S4/B7 A4 caliper.

Assuming price is reasonable of course.

Anyone know a good cheap source for B6 S4 345x30mm rotors? Need them too.

Bruno_S4 04-15-2008 06:24 PM

Oh yeah I agree. I ran the Panther Plus now called AX6 for 4 track days and they were noisy as hell!

But then Independent took them off and nobody's head turned to me when I slowed down at a set of lights.

Considering the OEM B5 S4 brake setup is average quality, they really held up to the punishment.
My rotors weren't hurt either... the red caliper paint on my stock calipers turned brown though from the extreme heat at Shannonville which is pretty hard on brakes.

It's on their website but here are the prices...

Bobcats = $137 - 10% = 123.30
XP8 = $166 - 10% = $149.40
XP10 = $182 - 10% = $163.80

Where do you live Mike?

nanotech 04-15-2008 07:20 PM

Waterloo. I'd pick them up at coffee/dynoday/whenever.

Are XP8 appropriate for these heavy pigs we call cars? XP12s seem to be recommended for the heavier beasts.

Anyways, count me in for the Bobcats for sure, and if you're hurting for volume I'll do the race pads too, whichever we deem most appropriate.

Give Mike Jr a call at Carbotech... say that you were talking to Bruno about ordering and he'll give

you advice on what pad setup to run for your needs. He is a brake compound guru.

Actually that goes for anyone that has questions about Carbotech...

Definitely interested in a set of Bobcats for my car...

Do you know their turnaround on orders? I'm out in Victoria - do you know their shipping charges?

Bruno_S4 04-16-2008 04:00 AM

No I don't know their shipping charges but it will be reasonable since they don't seem to inflate

their shipping charge to make profit.
If you are in for sure, then you have to call and place the order yourself and just mention it's part of this mini group by.

USPS is not that fast in general so I would give it minimum 2 weeks to maximum 3 weeks after the order is placed.
