Detroit 2009: Audi confirms A3 TDI for US launch in late 2009

So Audi sold ~1400 A3s in the US for 2008 if I remember correctly....
... doesn't make any sense. Guess Audi wants to test the market and don't really see it selling well with the A4?

it took Audi only 100 years (j/k) to bring the diesel to USA - no mention of Canada, yet.
Besides, most people who want a diesel in their car do not want a hot rod; they're after fuel economy.
