I got a ticket couple of days ago. Anything I should be worried about? Demerit points?

TIA. |
Peel out FTMFW!

Unnecessary noise ? You don't get any demerit points in Qc for that.
Shouldn't it be written on the ticket how many demerit points you loose ?
Demerit points are usually on driving skills such as speeding, wreckless driving, stops, lights, school bus, etc. Should not be lost on something caused by your car IMO. |
Yup, that's exactly what happened.

My exhaust setup is very civil and quiet.
However dumping the clutch at 5K and spinning all four tires is not exactly quiet.

Still goes on insurance as a ticket AFIK.
My "failure to provide insurance" counted as a speeding ticket and was just enough to put me into facility insurance territory. Had I fought it off (and it would have been easy), I'd paying regular insurance right now with regular people = thousands saved.
Now, how you fight peeling out...I'm not 100% sure. Perhaps you were having clutch problems....and...the clutch wasn't catching because you thought you had maybe glazed it....and suddenly the clutch stopped being glazed...so it caught, while you were in 5000rpm, and you had an accidental burnout. If you don't have any tickets on record I suppose 1 ticket is not such a big deal. If you don't want the headache perhaps just pay and forget about it. |
Hmmm... I also got the "failure to provide insurance" ticket...
My insurance expired 2 weeks ago and I completely forgot to put the new card into the wallet.
How would I fight it? Just show the new card at court? Thanks for the info. |
LOL, sorry, but what a bullshit ticket.
Who deemed the noise to be unnecessary and by what standards?
Perhaps you just popped your clutch by accident?? Effing cops. If it's toronto PD send me an email. I may be able to help you have it dropped. Aidan |
Just read the section of the HTA
What an effin bull**** and non specific clause.
I'd argue it. We pay enough as it is to drive (what with gas taxes, insurance etc.) no need to shell out another $110 for a bull**** ticket. "Unnecessary noise (4) A person having the control or charge of a motor vehicle shall not sound any bell, horn or other signalling device so as to make an unreasonable noise, and a driver of any motor vehicle shall not permit any unreasonable amount of smoke to escape from the motor vehicle, nor shall the driver at any time cause the motor vehicle to make any unnecessary noise, but this subsection does not apply to a motor vehicle of a municipal fire department while proceeding to a fire or answering a fire alarm call. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 75 (4)." Aidan |
I would take all documentation to court showing continuous insurance coverage.
Hopefully the JOP is reasonable.
