it seems like everytime i save up some extra money, it ends up going to the 's' for maintenance :(

Maintenance is ok, it's the repairs that's killing the wallets.

Very true. My wife once had a '97 A4, and everything started falling
 

apart right after the 3yrs everything-covered factory warranty had expired. It was a clever move that we bought extended warranty when we bought the car. We sold the car in no time after the extended warranty had also expired.

But the newer Audi's have much improved reliability.
