What window tint percentage 35% or 15%?
Advice please? I have an appointment to finally get my '01 silver allroad tinted. I want to keep that car cooler (black/grey interior), but don't want the car so dark that I have problems seeing at night.
I've decided upon the Formula One/Pinnacle film, but Mark at Shaded Days is recommending a darker tint that I was planning on.So,any thoughts on 35% all around, or 15% in cargo area? Too dark with dark interior?
Believe it or not,I'm more interested in a cooler car, than looking cool. However, if I look cooler in the process,it's all good. ;-)

Here's my silver allroad with 35% on the front doors and 20% everywhere else. But...
I got stopped twice for front tint. Did the same tint on my X5 and have been stopped for the front doors again.
FWIW- 20% is really dark at night when you're trying to back out of a driveway.

Thanks for the tip and the pic of that great car! I still get heartsick knowing that it's gone. Hope you are enjoying the X5 :-)
I don't think I will tempt Johnny Law with the front windows just yet. I am considering 35% on rear windows, and slightly darker for the cargo area to create a fade effect. I hate the minivan look of clear fronts and dark rear...

I initially only did the 20% and left the front doors alone...
Ran that way for a year. But the tint on the front doors looks nicer and definitely keeps the hot sun off the driver. Yes, I miss that car all the time. X5 is nice for an SUV, but the allroad was such a great everyday car.
Here's without tint on the front doors:

Wow! What a difference! Doing all the windows looks MUCH better!
Does the factory window color actually have any VLT percentage? I just wonder if going 35% on the rear doors will be a more subtle transition?

Ive had both, now I have neither.
35 the first time, 15 the second The 15 looked cool, but gangster. 35 was OK, but you sound like you could use 50%, really.
Remember though, its illegal to do the fronts (but whatever), see my old car in the pic poster for 15%.
Use 3M Charcoal or Smoke color only.
Good luck.

Don't think so...
I think all the windows are the same. I initially thought of 35% on all but the front doors, but decided that if I ever tinted the fronts, I would want some contrast to avoid being pulled over. Didn't work, got pulled over. One of the tickets I got was while parked in the garage at O'Hare if you can believe that. One in Naperville. X5 ticket was in my own town- Wheaton.
I would think it would look pretty nice with 35% and still cut a lot of the sun's heat. 20% was pretty dark on a rainy night. My ex didn't like driving it on those kind of night because it was hard to see to back up.
