2013 A3 TDI High pressure fuel pump
Apparently Audi thinks it normal and expected for their 2013 TDI high pressure fuel pump to go out at only 57K. Even though this car is part of the buyback, they required me to spend $4800 to fix the fuel pump problem so they could take it and crush it. What a waste of time and money! All I got from Audi was pretty much “sucks to be you” like some of the other people who have had this same problem - which is a known one by Audi. I’m telling everyone I know about how Audi doesn’t take care of its customers and buyer beware. Something huge could go wrong when your car is barely out of warranty and you will be totally on your own. Audi thinks this is okay. We are a family with a long history of Audi’s. My husband has an S4 Avant that he searched high and low for, but we’ll be looking for something other than Audi to replace it. Very disheartening response from Audi about this well known, very expensive weakness in their Diesel engines.

Did you talk to Audi directly, or just a dealer? I would get on the horn to Audi USA if it was me. Also, most failures of the pumps I've heard of were due to misfueling, or bad fuel. They also had recalls on many TDI cars.
What year S4? If it's the V8 one, well.....
