Default Is IB stealing creative content?

I just updated a photo in a Fotki album that is linked to a writeup I posted on AudiWorld just a couple months ago. In the process of replacing the photo, I had to delete the original from my Fotki.

So just for the heck of it, I check the writeup on AudiWorld, and what do you know....... the photo is still there. I checked the properties on the photo to see if the URL had changed...... it is shown exactly as the same Image URL that I deleted from MY site!

What could the answer for this be?

Default Photo is cached?

And IB has not responded yet to questions about ownership of intellectual property prior to the TOU change. I suspect they will not.

By posting current content, you automatically grant IB non-exclusive license to the content, but I'm not sure how that works with linked content. In other words, they own license to this post, and if I post a link to a picture I own on another site they own the link, but I doubt that they own the content at the end of the link.

Try looking at the write up from another PC or deleting internet files.

I've tried a couple different computers. I'll have to delete internet files and check it again.

I don't believe that JET or Kris Hanson would do anything deliberate, but I wouldn't put it past IB.

Prior to the switch, any and EVERY post could be edited. Links were alway so sensitive. I have a few thousand photos on Fotki and I had to be really careful not to move or re-load anything without updating the link on AudiWorld.

Default I wonder if they cache it here?

Could be a general thing they do for faster loading. Maybe the link updates on a schedule? Or maybe they just grab a copy so you don't replace the image with tub girl?

Maybe IB cached the entire thing for the switch-over. Still wrong to not allow changes. Expecially since there was no advance warning on the TOU change regarding ability to edit.

The TOU change does not cover content that is already posted.

The TOU didn't change to prevent people from editing their posts. The reason why IB decided to prevent it, is very simple: They didn't want people just going in and deleting their entire history, as they have apparently seen before.

I'll be more than happy to allow people to edit their own stuff on a case by case base till IB decides they're content.

I have nothing to do with any of this, but I'm just trying to keep the peace.

As far as I can tell, they have no legal right to do this under the provisions of the TOU in place when those posts were created.

I hate to beat this horse, and I do promise to stop when IB answers my question in a direct way that we can all understand. In other words, linking to the current TOU is meaningless and provides no answer.

Personally, I think they will attempt to ignore this to see if it goes away.

My guess is that a letter from a lawyer would result in all content prior to the TOU update being removed per request, but since IB can ban anyone at any time for any reason they see fit (fair enough, they own the site) I suspect a gesture like a letter from a lawyer would result in a ban.

Cliff notes: I think you own full rights to old content only. If you edit or update old content, you license it to IB. You have every right to have all old content deleted, but expect to be banned.
