Default complaint about the drop down list.....

now that AW has 13.4 million different forums, the drop down menu is getting more then a tad annoying to use. it takes me an hour to find my forum now. anyway to put in some subcategories on the banner at the top? e.g., when you highlight "Audiworld Forums" it shows you a list of some simplified forms like "A4", "A6, "A8", "S cars", etc. once you highlight the car type, then go into specifics like B5 or B6 chassis, etc.

this would make it much easier to navigate, but im sure you guys have a ton on your hands as is. just my $0.02

Default If you point over the "AudiWorld Forums" in the title bar...

a list appears witht he most popular car forums and the OT and Feedback forums, from there you can glide your pointer the one you want and click on it to open that forum. Well, at least in IE it does.

Default I know what you mean

You are looking for some type of double drop down/rollover where you could select A4 and then another menu would appear with the different flavors of A4. That's not a bad idea.

We are in the midst of a long, long design cycle for a redesign. The ETA is unknown, but we'll take this suggestion under advisement. In the meantime we could look at updating the current rollover to be more topical to the most popular forums. Any suggestion what should appear up there?

Also, I can create framesets to specific forums that people could just have bookmarked, i.e. although there isn't a rollover link to the A4 Cabriolet forum, I could setup:

https://www.audiworld.com/forum/a4cabriolet.html

This would load a frameset with the top header and that forum below (which would be a quick way to get to where you wanted). Please give me more feedback.

Default my basic feedback is this.......

and i have no pretentions of knowing the work involved in any of my suggestions, as i know nothing about web design, so take it for what its worth.

basically, i just feel the drop down menu that was added (to the ire of many, including me) is now waaaay to large to accommodate the amount of forums on the site. it takes too long to navigate to the forums i use the most.

my suggestion would be to do the "double drop down/rollover" or whatever you called it, starting with basic platforms, then going to different flavors when highlighted.

a second, more convenient solution for US and probably 30 times more difficult for you would be this: have a section where AW users can customize "their" AW. for me, itd be the OT forum, A4 forum, Midwest, and Performance right up top. then all the others could be listed as secondaries.

whaddya think?

Default I like the customization idea

We had also talked about doing that, and so it is still a possibility. I'm not positive how difficult it would be, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard.

Keep the faith, things are taking a while to implement right now.

Default despite some differences of opinion, you do a great job....

its tough keeping thousands of people happy with a layout and youve always been accommodating to peoples feedback. keep it up.

I second customization; maybe even just putting the 10 most recent forums visited up top?
