Default Most other website I visit has sticky post that start like "READ THIS FIRST"

It's good info for new and old readers since everyone would be able to access most FAQ fast.

How about the ability to block certain user ID's? That's what I want.

Default Is there anyway the software can be modified

to automatically delete the title of the thread a person is replying to (the stuff in the subject line)? It kind of annoys me when people who don't know what they are doing leave it there with a short response in the body that could have easily be put in the subject line. It would make things easier when reading responses. Just kind of a minor annoyance that makes it much more difficult. And another thing related, is to post something about using descriptive titles instead such generic ones.

Default i disagree...

audiworld really needs an overhaul.

there are three main problems that contribute (i think) to the noob question problem.

1) no forum noob sticky at the top. (as suggested by rka)

2) the search function sucks ***. holy stinking crap does it suck. you cant even search for "1.8t". duh. we tell noobs to STFA, and we send them to use a crippled search function.

3) the tech section needs headers that make sense. infomation about brakes and suspensions are found under "wheel/tire". this doesnt help the cause. Also, perhaps the title bar up top should say:

forums---model guides---tech articles---registry--etc......

"tech" is a little vague.

anyway...my thoughts.

Default It should simply default to being a tracked thread, and then

also have a link at the top of theh page, next to where "Forum FAQ" is right now. That one should be renamed "AW Forums FAQ" and the new one should be "<whatever> Forum FAQ".

That way, anybody new will see it at the top, and everyone will see it whenever it gets updated. If they don't want that, they'll just hit "untrack thread." Either way, if they know they need to check it, there's still a link to it at the top.

Default You have *no* basis for saying that

Most forums don't even have a FAQ, and those that do, no noob would ever be able to guess where to look for it. You can't claim someone won't use a resource when currently it doesn't exist or is hidden.

Plus, not only are AW searches "teh suck" (there, I said it), but there are some things you just can't search for, b/c you'll always get too many hits. Nobody's even going to try searching for "leases," they'll get 10,000 hits. That just needs to be in a FAQ right in front of their face.

Default Is anyone from the AW staff reading this?

This is the feeback forum, but I'm not seeing any indication that the feedback is being received. I raised this *exact* question about a month ago, and only got one response.

The lack of an effective FAQ program is IMHO, the single biggest weakness going on here. It's even worse than search quality.

Default Not a bad idea - I like how then people would see it any time it get's updated.

Maybe don't allow people to untrack it - once you hit update it's not going to show until there's a change.
