The issue is being discussed around the world. My concern was posting the photos because they may incite and harm and also I have a concern about unintended consequences of doing that. Some Arab might key your car when your gun is out of reach.

 

I don't doubt that one could find someone somewhere on the internet finding something objectionable about virtually any view on any subject. Is that the criterion for censorship on AW? Should it be?

More to the point, who on AW has expressed any objection that discussion of these recent newsworthy events, and of the cartoons at the center of the discussion, constitute matter that is false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law? You haven't even said that YOU find the discussion improper under any of these criteria. And if you do, you haven't explained why, even though I've asked. I guess that means we're done.

 

As a moderator I have the interesting position of having personal opinions and a need to promote the official Forum position. So that's why I posted my question here and addressed it to the owners of this site.

My personal position is along the lines of the "Golden Rule" - it may be insensitive to post photos that a billion others find objectionable.

I agree with a lot of what the newspaper article says in my link above.

Let's not talk here anymore. Back to politics. We can discuss it over there. But here is an opinion I find interesting...

IT IS A FACT THAT NO MUSLIM, WHO IS A TRUE BELIEVER OF ISLAM WILL EVER DARE TO LAMPOON ANY PROPHET OF GOD.

TO EQUATE ONDINARY INDIVIDUALS WHETHER THEY MAY BE LEADERS OF THEIR COUNTRIES TO THE STATUS OF THE PROPHETS OF GOD, IS SHEER IGNORANCE. THEREFORE TO USE THE ARGUMENT THAT IT IS OKAY TO LAMPOON THE PROPHETS OF GOD BECAUSE CERTAIN COMMUNITIES ARE BEING LAMPOONED IN THE FORM OF CARTOONS BY CERTAIN NEWSPAPERS, HOLDS NO MERIT AND IS JUST A FORM OF JUSTIFICATION TO HURT THE FEELINGS OF THE ADHERENTS OF A PARTICULAR RELIGIOUS GROUP.

LET US REMEMBER THAT MOSES, DAVID, JESUS, MUHAMMAD AND ALL THE OTHER PROPHETS ARE THE CHOSEN MESSENGERS OF GOD, WHO WERE ALL SENT TO THIS WORLD TO DELIVER THE MESSAGE OF TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE. IF IT WERE NOT FOR THEIR SACRIFICE AND STRIVING OF HUMAN RIGHTS, WE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD SOMETHING LIKE THE FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. THEY ARE THE ONE SET OF HUMAN BEINGS WHO DESERVE OUR UNDIVIDED PRAISE AND NOT DENIGRATION.
