Default 2.5 vs 2.2 ??

ok so im going big turbo in the spring would like to know by experience if it is worth for me to get a 2.5 block from a euro van, and put pistons etc into that or is it better to use the stock 2.2L, which is stronger, and more withstandable thanks alot

Default Visit motorgeek and do a stroker search...

There are benefits to running the 2.2 and different benefits from a 2.5

Depends on what you want to do with the car.

Crank from the eurovan is the same as the diesel crank offered in Euro back when. Crank is good to over 1000 hp, and is a stroker crank. If you do the stroker crank, I would also do the block from the eurovan, as it has a taller deck-height, will allow you taller rods and therefore a smaller transmission angle. Some modifying to block will be needed, but possibly worth it if you're looking for BIG power... = BIG $$$.

Depends on the feeling / use you want out of it. Max revs will be kept near stock if you run the stroker. Run the 2.2 for big top-end and 8k+ rpms. Both are capable of the power you are aiming for, rest depends on your choice of set-up.

I recommend s2forum.org. Wealth of info on the I5s there...

Default Depends on a lot

If you just want a bit more kick on the top then just going with the bigger turbo will maybe fit the bill. Taking into consideration the fueling requirements and inherent lag you're going to build into it.

Going with a 2.5 block will essentially mean a complete motor build project. If that is what you're looking to do, then that's a whole other discussion.

What base motor are you starting with?
